Kirsten Rausing, owner of Lanwades Stud and its associated St Simon and Staffordstown Studs is the former Chairman of The Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association and also former Chairman of the Federation Europeenne des Eleveurs de Pur-Sang (EFTBA), Trustee of the Animal Health Trust and member of various advisory groups concerned with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, Cambridge University Equine Fertility Unit and Liverpool University Veterinary Dept. A former Board Member of The National Stud, Kirsten was a director of the “old” BBA for six years.
A Thoroughbred breeder since her teenage years, Kirsten has bred Champions and Group One winners ALBORADA, ALBANOVA, PETOSKI, KALA DANCER and LADY JANE DIGBY (the latter in 2010), as well as Classic winners ROSE OF ZOLLERN, ALLEGRETTO and FAME AND GLORY (all in partnerships, the last-named with Ptarmigan Bloodstock).
Kirsten has also stood a number of successful stallions at stud, including NINISKI, SELKIRK and HERNANDO, all Champion Sires; at present standing ARCHIPENKO, AUSSIE RULES and SIR PERCY at Lanwades.
Since 1999 alone, Lanwades-bred/raised horses have won more than 970 races worldwide on the Flat (incl. 88 Group and Listed wins) and more than 190 races worldwide over jumps (incl. 18 black-type wins) to 30th July 2013.
